Once I won the 12 1/2 division at the Herreshoff rendezvous… that was pretty fun actually, although I fell asleep before the awards ceremony. (via H-Class Nationals 2011 | Northwest Twenty)

I went to see them race in Newport, and it was absolutely mind blowing.
Newport’s full of big boats, but these were at least twice the size of anything else in the Harbor, and you could see them racing from miles away. Like, I could sit at Brenton Point Park and see them racing wayyy off Jamestown. And their masts were so high that I could bike like half a mile inland and still watch them coast into the harbor.
It was practically magical.
J Class.
This is lovely and beautifully composed. It reminds me of the first week of summer when I got to go down to Narragansett and saw Puma trialing mar mostro out past Beavertail and Brenton Reef.
PUMA Ocean Racing on the way up the coast of Brazil to finish leg 5 of the Volvo Ocean race in 1st place.

Some pretty intense 15 footer racing. I like the color scheme and the Quantums; however, I think that name is a little bit TERRIBLE.(via Herreshoff Gallery Viewer)
Guys I’m still trying to identify this boat.
First observed Naushon on Memorial Day.
She lives in Hadley Harbor.
She’s NOT a Pearson Ariel.
She has a fractional rig with a non overlapping jib.
Outboard well.
About 28 feet long.
70’s/80’s?
She’s like a really attractive girl you would recognize but don’t know anything about.
Except a boat, obviously.
Finally, an original work by Christoper Dow surfaces after years of dormancy. (by C. M. Dow)
